Drone Aerial Photography.

22nd June 2017

I am looking at going into a partnership with Chris Zurinskas to form a Drone Aerial Photography business.

Chris is a commercial airline pilot, so has plenty of experience in this field, which is vital to the safe operation of our new venture.
Both Chris and I have 42 years, combined experience, in flying Radio Controlled Model Aircraft.  We are active members of SAMAA (South African Model Aircraft Association) and the BRCC (Ballito Radio Controlled Club).

With Chris's experience in aviation combined with my experience in photography we are on the way to providing you with a top quality product.

We are busy with the ROC (Remote Operations Certificate) which will allow us to offer this exciting and amazing photography to you.
This is a very long and expensive process which takes about 6 months if all goes well.  So I will be keeping you updated, on this page, to our progress.

Update 14th July 2107
The ROC application has been put on hold for now due to the cost and time factor.
I am busy exploring the possibility of operating under another ROC, which is called an "Umbrella ROC" and completely legal.
This will allow me to start offering a drone aerial photography service a lot sooner.
With this in mind I have just started my RT Course (Radio Telephony) which is one of the requirements for the RPL (Remote Pilots Licence)

If you are interested in understanding what is required for us to become a legal professional drone operator (anyone who earns money by using a drone), you can follow this link to the SACAA website.

I would also like to thank Dylan and Cornell for their expert help in this process.  They offer an amazing service.  If you would like to contact them here are their contact details.

Interesting fact - A professional drone operator, who does not have an ROC, and their client can be fined up to R50,000.00 or 10 years imprisonment and all equipment may be confiscated.  So be very careful before hiring a non certified Drone Operator and Business.
